We’re Junkyard, a neighbourhood café bar and brother of the renowned speakeasy cocktail bar Boilermaker. Nestled between Fletcher Gate and Bridlesmith Gate, our home, the former Walk Café has been fully refurbished into a 140 capacity venue featuring a hidden back yard oasis open 10am to 1am Monday to Saturday, 11am to 12am Sunday.

We’re in The Observer Food Monthly Awards; Best Places to Drink, Guardian; Top Ten Budget Places to Eat in Nottingham, The Times; 25 Coolest Restaurants in the U.K.

Junkyard combines the laid back feel of a North California bar and eatery with a specialist craft beer shop jammed full of bottles and cans of craft beers for drinking in or taking home. In the bar fifteen taps dispense the very best American, British and European craft keg brews.

You can even take your favourite draught beers home in your very own 64oz flagon by joining the ‘Nottingham Growlers’ club. The wider drinks offering has not been neglected in favour of the beer geek. Caffeine junkies can sit and savour locally roasted coffee, or grab a cup on the go.

Oenophiles can choose from a carefully selected wine list, and of course, great cocktails and homemade sodas are in our blood and on our menu.

Our passion for doing things properly extends way beyond sourcing and serving fine and interesting craft drinks. We love awesome food! Freshly prepared grazing plates, sharing dishes, deli classics and bar snacks are available from 10am brunchtime through to midnight.

Our ethos is simple; to develop a culture of like-minded individuals, brought together through a love of great products and great service.

Don’t Forget You Can Take Beer Home!

We’ve imported 100 x 64oz (3.2 pint) Growlers from the sunny shores of California and those willing to part with fifteen of their hard earned pounds will be able to join what’s being described (by us) as probably the most exclusive and coolest club of the 21st Century so far.

Those willing to take this leap of faith with us and plump for one of our limited edition jugs can repeatedly fill their Growler at our taps and earn 25% off the tap price each time.

While Junkyard Growlers will be first in line to try new products and benefit from exclusive offers, we’re offering all Growler owners a chance to fill their jugs and enjoy a 25% discount each time. Why? Because we’re nice like that.

Originating in the US, Canada and Australia, Growlers are 64 U.S. fl oz (3.2 pints) glass or ceramic jugs used to transport draft beer. The modern glass growler was first introduced by Charlie and Ernie Otto of Otto Brothers’ Brewing Company in Wilson, Wyoming in 1989.

The term dates back to the late 1800s when fresh beer was carried from the local pub to one’s home by means of a small galvanized pail. It is claimed the sound that the CO2 made when it escaped from the lid as the beer sloshed around sounded like a growl.

A properly sealed growler will hold carbonation indefinitely and store beer like any other sanitized bottle.
